When to come to Barcelona

Spring starts to appear, with some days peaking at 25º, but most days it is still a bit chilly. Touristic season is starting.

It is the month of transition between Winter and Summer, with the first real beach days, at 25-30º. Water is still cold at the beginning of the month, but the bravest or those who lost a bet might go for a swim.

Sant Jordi | 23rd of April

Some sort of Catalan Valentine's day, the tradition is that men offer their loved one a rose, while women offer a book. Not so commercial, the atmosphere in the streets is very nice and could possibly help you meet people!

Water is getting warm, and for somebody coming from Northern Europe, this is already clearly Summer. Opening parties of several summer nightclubs (open air, with or without swimming-pool).

Catalonia's Formula 1 Grand Prix | Beginning of May

Mont-Melo's circuit is located just 30 minutes driving from Barcelona, and is quite easily accessible.

PRIMAVERA SOUND | End of May / Beginning of June

One of the biggest music festival of Spain, mixing different genres www.primaverasound.es

One of the best months to come to Barcelona. Lots of events, it's warm (but not too hot), water temperature is great, and nightclubs are full.

Sant Joan | 24th of June

This public holiday is a reason to party all night in the city on the 23rd. In bars, clubs, in the street and even more on the beach: thousands of people are present, everywhere in Catalunya, for a big party with fireworks, DJs until the sunrise.

It's hot, sometimes very hot; the risk of bad weather is very low. All Barcelona is at the beach, and nightclubs are full.

Sonar | Middle of July

One of the biggest electro festival in the world.

Festa de Gracia | Middle of August

If you like street parties, you will probably like la Festa de Gracia (a district of Barcelona). Concerts, shows and parties during an entire week (!)

Another really great month to go to Barcelona: a bit less tourists, the weather is perfect and water temperature is as warm as it gets. Closing parties of several summer nightclubs.

Catalonia's day | 11th of September

This sad anniversary is also the day of Catalonia. Expect parades, concerts, a lot of Catalonia's flags and more generally a good atmosphere in the streets.

Mercé | 24th of September

Barcelona's biggest party: 4 days of concerts, parades, cultural shows of all types, ending with huge fireworks on the last night.

It's still warm and even hot some days. The city enjoy its last beach days.

Not winter quite yet, so it's not really cold, and there are still some really nice, warm days.

It is real winter, which means it can get really cold (0-5ºC), but most of the time it's okay during the day (10-15º) with some blessed days at 20ºC or more. Imagine sitting on a terrace wearing a t-shirt in January...
